WanJin Kim

WanJin Kim was born in 1981 in the Republic of Korea and is currently living in Seoul. He graduated from the Department of Animation at the Korea National University of Arts and has since taught himself painting. Since 2016, Wanjin has shared his art through Instagram and has developed a significant following known by his nickname Willeys. 

Fascinated by the paintings of Lucian Freud, Wanjin incredible creates sensual hyperrealistic paintings and drawings of the human anatomy, particularly hands and feet. He usually paints nudes that allow him to express the abstract curves of the human body and the infinite tones of the surface of the skin so you can almost feel its texture. His artworks carry a delicate realism full of details in which you can even distinguish veins, hairs and muscles. Working with coloured pencils acrylic paint and inks  he creates complex hatched layers of colour, and adding paint or ink to soften the image giving it an ethereal look.
